About
Jeff Staples was born and raised in Virginia. Staples moved to Chesapeake in 2002, from Virginia Beach. He graduated from the University of Lynchburg in 1984 with a B.A. in History. He managed this, thanks to at times, 3 part time jobs, student loans and Pell Grants. His love of hot rods and the need to pay off those student loans, resulted in his career path shifting back into the automotive repair field. In his over forty year career, he worked in every capacity that the industry needed him in, from management to technician.
It was in College, where he first got his desire to work for the community. He has volunteered with numerous organizations over the many decades. He recently started a non-profit, Save the Dismal Limited. This group has a community service function and also works politically to keep overdevelopment away from the Great Dismal Swamp in Chesapeake and Suffolk, Virginia.
He is known throughout the local area and the Commonwealth, to be an activist for the environment, community betterment, and working to end disparity. Staples has also run for the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia State Senate. He took on candidates who ran unopposed in gerrymandered districts. Even though he has thus far not been elected, he has brought attention to issues that were being ignored or merely paid lip service.
Jeff enjoys all types of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. He also loves to spend time with his dog, Buster.
